...leading with technology designed to enhance creativity

With more electronic acquisition, and the use of Digital Intermediate for film-acquired material, there is a growing need for colour correction of full-aperture 2K RGB footage. Bringing the real-time capabilities of the successful Finaliser video grading system to the world of 2K, LightMaster meets the need without the compromises associated with existing solutions.
LightMaster is a data-centric colour corrector and grading system. The systems accepts and delivers material as data files (DPX, TGA etc.)or HDSDI/SDI input and outputs single and dual link.
All Processing is done in real-time. Rendering is NEVER required.
All work is done using full resolution images, without the use of proxies.
The system provides simultaneous HD and SD outputs in addition to the main DVI output.
Film LUTs with Gamut Mapping can be loaded in order to preview the look after filmout if required.
The system has a powerful RoamTM feature. This allows pan and zoom control from a trackball to see any part of the image in greater detail on the main monitor. This is a “post grading” zoom performed downstream of all other processing.
The Roam feature is in addition to the input Pan/Scan and Zoom (often performed in a telecine) and an additional SD down converter Pan/Scan with aspect ratio control.
Massive storage bandwidth allows high-speed background file transfers between LightMaster and an external SAN without slowing down the grading process.
The integral storage system can also playback media in real-time from a conform list and auto-conform data files as standard.
Unlike workstation based film grading systems,LightMaster is designed with a user interface that will immediately feel comfortable for colourists. The new LightMaster panel is equally usable for right and left-handed users with dual jog-wheels.
Operators can control the system with the knobs and buttons, a pen and tablet, and a mouse and GUI. All input methods are live all the time and the instant response the system provides gives immediate visual feedback, meaning you never have to wait.
Like Finaliser, LightMaster fully supports source code based grading with rapid cut and paste.
Speed of operation is further enhanced by a grade library and grade stack that makes it quick and easy to experiment.

Menus and displays work in conjunction with the control surface. Timeline or List displays offer features appropriate to their differences. Cut and paste of different grade settings between jobs. Intuitive displays refined with the help of colourists. We are constantly following suggestions put forward by users to improve and adapt as requirements develop.
