INTELFAX CHOOSES EDIFIS STING DISK RECORDER
London-based Intelfax, one of the UK's leading
independent media
services companies, has purchased an Edifis Sting dual-channel disk
recording system with 60 minutes of uncompressed digital video and
audio storage capacity. The Sting will be used for recording lines-in
feeds, inserting Line 335 subtitling data, and outputting the combined
signal as part of a main programme feed for DVD or off-air broadcast.
Intelfax managing director Bill Skirrow comments: "We
cannot afford
to compromise on the quality of digitised video and audio material
recorded and stored at our production centre which must replicate the
standard of the original content. Edifis meets this requirement."
Edifis sales director Richard Lilley adds: "This is one
in a series of new
Edifis contracts after what has been a quiet summer for the entire
broadcast industry. Broadcasters and production companies are
keener than ever to find the most cost-effective tools with which to
maintain and upgrade their facilities. Growing interest in high
definition is also making signal quality a major consideration even in
standard definition applications, reflected in an increasing demand for
uncompressed signal storage."
Sting can be controlled via standard PC Web browsers on
any
connected network. A selection of pages allows for clip selection,
playlist generation and EDL upload/ download. The system can be
controlled remotely without the need for a local panel. Custom pages
can easily be created using standard HTML commands. The browser
interface offers the user the most flexible expansion of the system.
Support of standard IP protocols, over Gigabit Ethernet, allows rapid
transfer of data files between the Sting and host computers.
Sting is part of an expanding family of Edifis systems
which includes
Scratchbox HD and SD, Graduate, Telecine Brick and Gearbox, all of
which are already working very profitably with major broadcasters
and post houses.
Edifis (www.edifis.com) was formed in July 1997 and is

computer manufacturers or operating systems, allowing highly
reliable products to be produced at cost-effective prices to meet the
rigours of outside broadcasting and for on-air transmission.
